Bert Dercksen (1960) finished in 2007 his professional education at the "Fotovakschool" (School for professional Photography) in the city of Apeldoorn, the Nederlands. He completed with good results his biennial training in Photography and Photographic Design, ("Fotografische Vormgeving").
Before that he already practised photography for more than 30 years as an amateur.
At this moment he combines his professional photography career with his job as anesthesiologist/HEMS (helicopter emergency medical service) physician.
He is particularly interested in the making of photographic portraits of people "as they are",
which he does on locations, close to his home in the Netherlands or far away abroad, or in his own humble studio.
In his photographs he is continually searching for the "soul" of the people he photographs.
Besides his passion for portrait photography, he is also fascinated by documentary and travel photography. Due to his broad education at the Fotovakschool he is able to succesfully complete a wide range of photographic assignments.
He works both on special request, and on his own initiative by way of photographic projects.

Bert Dercksen is a member of: "BFN" (Association of Professional Photographers in the Netherlands)
